Founder's Message

From the beginning to the future, the founder's journey

To our Global Partners and Friends

My name is Sam Zhong, founder of BKSilicone.

In 2009, I entered the liquid silicone industry, focusing on the marketing, application support, and real-world use of RTV-2 silicone materials.
Through years of close collaboration with engineers, mold makers, and end users, I gradually built a systematic understanding of silicone formulations, material behavior, and the diverse application requirements across different industries.


Starting from Real Applications

During long-term market and technical support work, I observed a recurring challenge faced by creators, designers, and small studios.
Many of them only need one mold or a small quantity of silicone molds, yet their ideas are often limited by cost, processing complexity, or material instability.

To address the growing demand for DIY and small-batch custom mold making, in May 2014, I began hands-on production of silicone molds.
We started providing customized mold solutions for chocolate, candles, soap, resin, plaster, and other craft applications.

Over time, we established a complete internal workflow — from structural design, 3D printing / CNC master production, to silicone mold fabrication and final delivery.
To date, we have successfully delivered more than 1,000 sets of custom molds.


An Unavoidable Problem

However, during our own mold production, I encountered a challenge familiar to almost everyone in this industry:
inconsistent quality between batches of purchased silicone raw materials, which directly led to unstable mold yields.

After in-depth investigation, we discovered that these fluctuations were not caused by the primary components, but by a very small yet highly critical oily component within the formulation.

This realization led to a clear conclusion:
Without control over the material source, it is impossible to truly take responsibility for mold performance.


Returning to the Material Source

Starting in 2022, based on years of hands-on mold manufacturing experience, we made a bold decision:
to develop our own platinum-cure silicone raw materials.

We invested heavily in R&D, conducting hundreds of formulation iterations and extreme performance tests.
Eventually, we established our own low-viscosity platinum silicone system, fundamentally locking in batch-to-batch consistency at the chemical level.

Stability, however, is only the foundation.
BKSilicone products are developed to solve real application pain points.

For platinum-cure silicone mold making, we systematically addressed three core challenges:


1. Air Bubble Control

We broke from industry convention by reducing the silicone viscosity to below 2000 cps — significantly lower than the common industry range of 3000–8000 cps — while maintaining excellent tear strength.

This exceptional flowability and natural self-deaeration behavior allow users to produce bubble-free molds even without vacuum equipment.


2. Cure Inhibition Resistance

For molds made from SLA 3D-printed resin masters, we conducted deep analysis of resin chemistries.
Through targeted formulation modifications, we significantly improved the cure inhibition resistance of the BK-A Series platinum silicone, effectively reducing the risk of incomplete curing.


3. Curing Efficiency

Once bubble control was achieved, we optimized processing efficiency.
The working time was stabilized at approximately 15 minutes, with full cure achieved in about 2 hours, greatly improving mold production efficiency and delivery timelines.
